The pattern
About Aokiji
Aokiji is ice. Columns of elongated stitches run right across it, straight as needles of frost, and small raised bubbles settle on them diagonally, section after section, like air trapped in ice.
It is knitted from the tip to the long edge, in garter stitch: one edge grows on every row, the other is scalloped with picots. The pattern returns, steady and calm, and the shawl widens unhurriedly over its eight sections.
